Learning Manager - Human Services

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Program Manager, Arts, Media, and Community Studies, the successful applicant will create a positive teaching and learning environment and provide effective delivery of the Human Services program.  The ideal candidate will:

  • Assist learners in the development of required curriculum outcomes through such activities as individual and group instruction, self-directed learning, and performance assessments.
  • Deliver excellence in learning-centered instruction by establishing an online and classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Evaluate and assess both academic and practical student progress.
  • Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching and engaging students in the learning process.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and advice to students.
  • Liaising with industry to promote student learning and program relevancy.
  • Comply with OH&S regulations.
  • Participate in program development and planning activities.
  • Develop, review and update learning materials in the online based learning management system (SAM).
  • Perform other instructor related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Human Services or post secondary education related to the field of providing care and education to people with an intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of front-line experience working with individuals and families in the field of intellectual disability and dual diagnosis.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with social policy in the field of Human Services as well as the legislation, programs, and services utilized within the sector.
  • Embodies the core values of the Human Services field and has demonstrated evidence of advocating to have these values upheld.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community engagement with services and resources in the field of intellectual disability.
  • Superior problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior teaching experience in an adult environment and/or a Certificate in Adult Education will be considered assets.
