Women’s hockey player Josie Lynch and men’s volleyball player Carson Gray have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 24, 2024.
Lynch, a second-year forward from Lunenburg, N.S., had a strong second weekend in ACHA regular-season action. While the Hurricanes lost both of their games on Saturday and Sunday against the Acadia Axewomen, Lynch scored her first goal of the season in Saturday’s 3-2 loss and showed impressive leadership, was strong in all three zones on the ice, and brought a positive attitude and focus to every game.
Lynch and the Hurricanes are 1-3-0 and still sitting second in the standings. They will play one more doubleheader ahead of the winter break, wrapping up the first half of the season with a trip to Cape Breton, N.S. to take on the CBU Capers on Saturday, Nov. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 1.

This time, he led the team to a doubleheader sweep against the UNBSJ Seawolves this past weekend, winning 3-0 and 3-2. Gray recorded 32 kills, 17 digs, and two assists, and helped the squad achieve a three-game winning streak to conclude the first half of the season.
Gray and the Hurricanes are 6-4 and will enter the second half of the season in third place in the conference. The hosts of the 2025 ACAA Volleyball Championships will return to the court with a McMillan Centre doubleheader on the weekend of Saturday, Jan. 11 and Sunday, Jan. 12 against the Dalhousie Rams.
