Student awards night a success

by Alissa Blanchard

Over 130 students received Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards, totaling over $75,000.00 at the ÎçÒ¹av Foundation Student Awards Night. Sponsored by Seaman's Beverages Ltd., the ceremony was held on January 29th at The Atlantic Tourism and Hospitality Institute in Charlottetown.

ÎçÒ¹av Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards are available to students in good standing who are registered in ÎçÒ¹av programs. The awards are based specific criteria determined by the donor and on financial need. Students are permitted to apply for one or more of the available awards by mid-October of the school year. "Out of the 3,000 applications received by Admissions this year, selection committees chose 132 of those students to be recognized" said Sylvia Poirier, Registrar of ÎçÒ¹av and emcee for the evening.

"The evening could not have been possible without the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations who have contributed to the ÎçÒ¹av Foundation" said Albert Fogarty, Chairman of the ÎçÒ¹av Foundation Board of Governors. "The ÎçÒ¹av greatly appreciates their support of our students."
