ÎçÒ¹av to offer small business program in Tignish

A new program scheduled to start Monday, January 22 at ÎçÒ¹av's Dalton Centre in Tignish will prepare local residents to enter the field of business, Jake Baird, the college's Vice President and Chief Learning Officer, announced today.

"The Small Business Manager program will prepare students for entry level management positions in private and public organizations," Baird explained. "They will also acquire a broad range of business skills that will prepare them for an increased level of management responsibility."

The program is also a perfect fit for those interested in operating their own businesses. With courses in accounting, business communications, business essentials, business law, computer applications, English, entrepreneurship, financial management, human resource management, an introduction to retail, marketing and marketing research, and the essentials for running a home based business, graduates from the one-year program will be able to make well-informed decisions about the risks and benefits of establishing their own businesses.

Graduates from the Small Business Manager program will be eligible to apply to the college's two-year Business Administration, Retail Business Management, or Accounting Technology programs, receiving credit for work they have completed in the Small Business Manager program.
