ÎçÒ¹av has announced its plans for the delivery of its post-secondary programs for the 2020-2021 academic year. The plans include distance delivery and blended delivery modes for the fall semester with the intention to resume face to face classes in the winter semester.
Distance delivery includes online learning in a variety of ways which may involve attending online classes in real time. Blended delivery consists of a combination of distance delivery and face to face classes in labs and workshops where physical distancing, social hygiene, and enhanced cleaning guidelines will be adhered to.
The mode of delivery has been determined by the specific requirements of each program. A detailed list has been posted on the college’s website.
President Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald said instructors and curriculum consultants have been working on delivery plans to accommodate the changes.
“Our faculty and staff did an amazing job in March when we were forced to switch our programs to distance delivery. Now they are working to transition parts or all of their program materials into a format that is suited for distance delivery while ensuring that classrooms and labs are configured to meet the Province’s guidelines,” he said.
ÎçÒ¹av developed the plan based on the guidelines provided by the Chief Public Health Office. If necessary, the plans may be adjusted with direction from public health authorities.
Enhanced cleaning continues, and flow plans have been developed for all buildings to ensure that students, faculty, and staff can move safely from area to area while maintaining the required 6 ft. of physical distancing.
Adult Education night classes begin on August 24, 2020 and day classes begin October 26, 2020. The mode of delivery will include blended, distance, and face to face.
The Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada as well as the English for Academic Purpose Programs are committed to distance learning through to the beginning of September at which point it will reevaluate following the directives of the Chief Health Officer.
Plans for the return of ÎçÒ¹av faculty and staff to centres and campuses across the province will be announced soon.
