ÎçÒ¹av issues statement about Coronavirus disease


ÎçÒ¹av continues to monitor developments about the .  At this time, there are no cases of the virus in PEI and the overall risk to Islanders remains very low.  Students can attend classes as usual.

We encourage you to monitor the and websites for updates from the Chief Public Health Office of Prince Edward Island and the Public Health Agency of Canada.

The  on February 28, 2020. The CPHO continues to recommend that arriving travelers who have been in Hubei province (including Wuhan) voluntarily self-isolate for 14 days after leaving China. In addition, there are now further instructions for arriving travelers from a number of affected areas:

  • Other areas of mainland China
  • Hong Kong
  • Iran
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
All travelers who have returned from affected areas are being asked to monitor themselves and their children closely for 14 days after returning home and to call 811 if they develop any new onset of symptoms (fever, cough, or difficulty breathing).

At this time, we have suspended all travel to and from China relating to our Educational Joint Ventures. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as required.

The best defense against Covid-19, like any type of flu, is to practice routine prevention measures as follows: 
  • Washing hands frequently with soap and water
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue
  • If ill with acute respiratory symptoms, stay home if possible
  • Limit touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Don’t share items like drinking glasses and water bottles
  • Frequently clean surfaces like taps, doorknobs and countertops
