ÎçÒ¹av is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a gala dinner at The Culinary Institute of Canada on Friday, March 27. Dining Through the Decades features a five-course menu that explores the food trends of the past 50 years.
Chef Sean Burton, along with Chef Hans Anderegg, Chef Stephen Hunter, Chef Andrew Morrison, Chef Christian Marchsteiner, and Chef Ilona Daniel, developed the menu.
“We are very excited about this event,” Chef Burton said. “Researching, and, in some instances, going through our own files to determine what we wanted to serve to represent each decade has been fun, and we’re looking forward to presenting our dishes at the gala,” he said.
Guests will arrive to a 1969-themed reception, and the five dinner courses will feature dishes from the '70s, '80s, '90s, 2000s, and 2010s. Students from the School of Performing Arts Music Performance program will play a selection of music related to the decade featured in each course.
In addition to celebrating the college’s 50th anniversary, Dining Through the Decades is a fundraiser for the ÎçÒ¹av Foundation’s Golden Anniversary Endowment Fund, which aims to raise $50,000 to support student success, primarily through financial aid.
Seating for the gala dinner is limited to 100 guests. There will be a reception at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $150 per person or $1,000 for a table of eight and can be purchased through the ÎçÒ¹av Foundation office by calling 902-566-9501 or through email at foundation@hollandcollege.com. The charitable portion of the ticket price will be receipted as a donation for tax purposes. Find out about other 50th anniversary activities here.
