ÎçÒ¹av and UPEI sign degree pathway agreements

ÎçÒ¹av and the University of Prince Edward Island have signed 22 degree pathway agreements to enable graduates from ÎçÒ¹av to pursue their educational goals seamlessly and obtain a degree from UPEI. The continued collaboration provides students with the opportunity to continue their studies on P.E.I. by beginning their studies at one institution and finishing at the other, receiving credit for their college diploma.

Several of the agreements renew existing pathways between UPEI and ÎçÒ¹av, such as the Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology, Bachelor of Environmental Studies, Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation, and the Bachelor of Science in Paramedicine pathways. The Sport and Leisure Kinesiology pathway has been reworked to provide Sport and Leisure Management students and graduates with a clearer understanding of the entrance requirements.

A new agreement for graduates of ÎçÒ¹av’s Graphic Design program gives students up to 60 credit hours toward a Bachelor of Arts degree.

ÎçÒ¹av president Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald said the agreements make pursuing a post-secondary education more attractive to learners.

“These pathways give students a wider range of options when pursuing their educational goals at UPEI or ÎçÒ¹av, while ensuring they receive credit for all the work they’ve completed,” he said.

Natalie Mitton, VP Academic and Applied Research at ÎçÒ¹av, said the collaborative nature of the agreements enables graduates to follow their academic aspirations seamlessly.

“Our partnership with UPEI has grown over the years. The renewal and establishment of new pathways will allow more students to start or finish their studies with practical, hands-on training at ÎçÒ¹av while gaining a deeper knowledge of their field at the university level,” she said.

“There is no one pathway to a post-secondary education,” added Dr. Kathy Gottschall-Pass, Interim Vice-President Academic and Research at UPEI. “We are pleased to partner with ÎçÒ¹av on agreements such as these that provide students with additional, unique learning experiences with limitless career options.”
