Job Description

Our Albany & Cavendish shop staff responsibilities include direct customer service in our retail shop, serving baked handpies, assisting customers with their frozen handpie purchase decisions, and providing excellent hospitable customer service. All shop staff are also responsible for baking prepared handpies and cookies for continuous service throughout the work day, with full training provided. As a representative of The Handpie Company, all staff are expected to uphold our standard of warm hospitality combined with confident handpie professionalism. Successful applicants will love serving customers while also thriving in sharing information about the who/what/why of our unique products. Summer levels of tourism also bring a hearty helping of tourist information services, and working in a fast paced environment with a stellar team of pros.

Qualifications

No culinary/pastry experience required, but is considered an asset. We’re really looking for team members with the enthusiasm and desire to learn all about what we do, and become a huge part of that. This position involves standing for your full shift, working in and out of the walk-in freezer during the day to organize and move stock, constantly restocking the retail freezers, building customer orders, direct customer service, and working in the kitchen environment. Successful applicants must be physically able to complete the above activities.

Summer shift availability: Monday-Sunday 8:30am-7pm The dates listed on this job posting are open for discussion. This range shows our full summer season in both Albany and the new Cavendish location, but we're flexible for start/finish times if you need to head back to school early, etc. There is also the opportunity for some off-season work as well. All successful applicants must have their own transportation, or assurance of reliable transportation. Our Albany shop is quite rural, with no public transportation available. Free parking is provided at both locations.

Other

Wage: $17.50/hour, plus tip share. There is room for discussion here if you’re coming in with Sarah (the founder) levels of awesomeness, excellent relevant experience, and a desire to take on responsibilities beyond this job description into the future. As a growing company, there's so much room to grow along with us! All staff members also receive one hot handpie for every shift over 4 hours, to enjoy on a paid 30 minute lunch break. All retail staff members also receive two handpie staff shirts to be worn while on-shift as a uniform.
