Job Description

Visitor Services Team Leads work with our Visitor Experience teams at PEI National Park and Green Gables Heritage Place on the stunning north shore. Visitor Services Team Leads in Parks Canada places across the country play a critical operational role at day use areas, campgrounds and heritage sites. They supervise a passionate team who provide information and respond to visitor needs, and sell permits, passes and merchandise. The Visitor Services Team Lead participates in recruiting, onboarding and training staff, scheduling and other administrative tasks associated with human resources, troubleshooting system issues and addressing visitor queries and complaints. They work in a fast-paced environment and within a network of other leads and supervisors who support one another.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • A minimum 2 years of post-secondary education or acceptable combination of education, training, experience or traditional knowledge relevant to position.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in planning and providing services to the public.
  • Experience supervising a team of employees (minimum 3 consecutive months within past 3 years)
  • The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job) Bilingual - Imperative BBB/BBB and CBC/CBC Parks Canada, as required by the Official Languages Act, provides services to visitors in English and French. Qualified candidates must obtain successful second language evaluation results in reading, writing and speaking in their second language (English or French) prior to hiring.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working for Parks Canada.
  • Experience using a Point of Sales system. 
  • Experience working in a campground and using a reservation system.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays, when required

  • Reliability security clearance status
  • Possession of a valid class 5 Driver’s License
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certification
