Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
Apply the foundations of energy, greenhouse gases and land and water use in the creation of sustainability plans and solutions.
Evaluate and analyze existing practices and data to recommend and implement changes that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, a reduction in operational costs and an improved organizational reputation.
Conceptualize, evaluate, contribute to, and implement business plans that are environmentally, socially, and financially sound, capitalizing on current sustainable business models and opportunities discovered through environmental scans, research, and analysis of local and global marketplace trends.
Mediate and negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholder and rightsholder interests, incorporating Indigenous knowledge and employing an understanding of human behavior and motivations to lead and inspire a transition to more sustainable practices.
Evaluate industry regulations, government policies, funding opportunities, corporate values and customer needs that contribute to the feasibility of a sustainable business plan.
Identify quality sources of data and manage key data associated with sustainability.
Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to implement change and sustainability efforts across various sectors with a range of stakeholders.
Evaluate the appropriateness and significance of new techniques, tools and methods for specific business purposes using an environmental, social, and financial lens and prepare to deploy solutions.
Effectively communicate sustainability plans and recommended changes to internal and external stakeholders and contribute to Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and other sustainability reporting frameworks.
